Charlotte and Matt

Charlotte and Matt were a couple who had been together for 8 years and decided to have a destination wedding in Sanur, Bali. They chose me as their wedding celebrant based on a personal referral and the qualities they were looking for, which included someone to bring fun to the ceremony and help with all the organisation on the day.

Overcoming the hurdles of a destination wedding

One of the main challenges for Charlotte and Matt was that they were unable to legally marry in Bali. Kerrie was able to overcome this issue by first marrying them in Australia in an intimate backyard ceremony at Ourimbah, Central Coast in Australia.

Adding a personal touch to the ceremony

To personalise their wedding ceremony, Charlotte and Matt provided Kerrie with basic information about their relationship, which she used to tell their love story during the ceremony in a lighthearted and humorous way. To involve their families and friends, Kerrie orchestrated a humorous ‘guest pledge’, which everyone repeated after her.

Looking back at their favourite moments

The wedding ceremony was a great success, with Charlotte’s favourite moment being when she saw Matt’s smile for the first time walking down the aisle. After the ceremony, they felt content knowing they were now married and were ready to enjoy the rest of their day with their loved ones. The feedback they received from their guests was positive, with many of them mentioning that the ceremony was engaging and funny.

My role as their wedding celebrant

I helped Charlotte and Matt throughout the planning process by completing all the paperwork and organisation with the wedding planner while they were overseas. My advice to other couples planning their wedding ceremony is to enjoy their day, keep the official parts lighthearted, and cherish every moment as the day goes by quickly.
